This has evolved as one of my all time favorite post workout shakes. It’s so amazing, I even had it for breakfast this morning.
In the old days when I was studying at University, I hated artificial protein shakes that you just added water to. The aftertaste was really disgusting and my stomach didn’t agree. I was a poor student. My go to post-workout drink was chocolate milk, which is a great drink to replenish muscle glycogen and build lean muscle tissue. Turns out the Olympic gymnastics team has been copying me!
Now try this combo of ingredients below: whey protein + carbs. Go for whey protein as it will be absorbed and digested in the body faster than any other protein.
Don’t get too hung up on the timing of your drink, the window of opportunity is bigger than the nutrition companies make out. We’ll go into more details on this next week.
– 1 scoop of Vanilla whey protein powder (right now, I’m loving Designer whey)
– 1/2 cup almond milk
– 1 scoop of Greens Superfood Powder
– big handful of blueberries
– 1 tbsp of flaxseeds
– 3-4 ice cubes
Put all of these delicious ingredients in the blender together – make sure the lid is secure. I had an unfortunate blender mess early one morning and it’s not a great way to start your day. Blend until smooth.
Enjoy the shake! Let me know in the comments about your favorite shakes.
